While Michaelin Otis is perhaps best known for her compelling portraits and figures in watercolor, she is also an author, illustrator, workshop leader, and art show juror . She owned and operated her own gallery and teaching studio., Avalon Arts, for eighteen years. Her book, Watercolor for the Fun of it Painting People , has been a favorite for portrait painters, and has been reprinted in two other books. She has illustrated four children's books, appeared in many national art publications, and written articles for art magazines. Her portraits have been on CD covers , book covers and magazine covers. She teaches workshops around the world, including a yearly workshop on the beach in Yucatan, Mexico. She is a signature member of the Louisiana Watercolor Society, Taos National Society of Watercolors and the Northern Plaines Watercolor Society. Now a resident of Green Valley, Arizona, Michaelin's work is exclusively featured at Manos Gallery in Tubac. She also teaches a weekly watercolor class and demonstrates on most Saturdays at Manos. "I am thrilled to be featured in such a wonderful gallery. I am able to show both traditional watercolors and textured watercolors and acrylics.
